GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Offer and provide voluntary case management services to McLennan Community College students referred to C.A.R.E. (Campus Assessment, Response & Evaluation), including ongoing assessment, individualized support, monthly C.A.R.E. Team reviews, and educational programs for faculty, staff, and students.This position exercises no supervision and receives general supervision from the Director of the Counseling Center. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Master’s Degree in social work from an accredited college or university

Experience: More than one year of work experience

Special Requirements: Licensed by the state of Texas as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Two years of experience providing support to vulnerable populations or individuals in crisis, such as in crisis intervention, mental health, or social services settings (including crisis hotlines, shelters, or psychiatric care facilities), through conducting assessments and coordinating access to appropriate services, resources, and opportunities tailored to individual needs; Priorexperience in a community college or university setting

SELECTION CRITERIA:

The cover letter should address how the following knowledge, skills, and abilities were acquired:

Knowledge of: 1. Case management practices and crisis intervention services; 2. Trauma-Informed Care principles and their application in higher-education settings; 3. The spectrum of mental illnesses, associated symptoms, psychotropic medications, and the social, medical, and environmental factors affecting individuals with mental illness; 4. Stressors commonly experienced by college students and effective supportive services to address those stressors; 5. Appropriate procedures for responding to students who may pose a danger to themselves or others; 6. HIPAA and FERPA regulations related to crisis intervention and student confidentiality; 7. Campus and community resources available to support student well-being; Skills in: 8. Mental health case management, including active listening, empathy, compassion, clear communication, patience and calmness under pressure, critical thinking, advocacy, self-awareness, multicultural competency, and a commitment to ongoing professional growth; 9. Delivering effective and persuasive presentations on sensitive topics, such as suicide prevention; 10. Mediation and conflict resolution to address complex interpersonal situations; 11. Using software and database systems to access records and accurately document services; 12. Program development, marketing, and evaluation to support student well-being initiatives; 13. Developing and maintaining connections with community providers; Ability to: 14. Communicate effectively with a diverse student population at McLennan Community College; 15. Interact calmly and professionally with students who may pose a risk to themselves or others, ensuring individual and campus safety; 16. Accurately assess student needs, develop individualized, goal-driven plans with targeted interventions, connect student to appropriate support systems, monitor progress, and facilitate communication and collaboration with faculty, families, healthcare providers, and community agencies; 17. Design and deliver educational training and support programs for faculty, staff, and students, including suicide awareness and prevention initiatives; 18. Maintain detailed, timely, and confidential records of all student interactions, assessments, care plans, and progress in compliance with federal, state, and MCC requirements; 19. Organize and prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines and program goals; 20. Understand and adhere to MCC and C.A.R.E. Team policies and procedures;.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; respond to crisis situations after-hours as necessary. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.

BENEFITS:
