The American Studies/Media & Communications Department at SUNY Old Westbury regularly seeks to hire adjunct instructors to teach courses as needed. The American Studies/Media & Communications Department offers a B.A. in Media & Communications, and many of our courses serve Old Westbury's general education curriculum. 

Candidates for adjunct positions should have a record of high-quality teaching. 

We are seeking applicants who can teach foundational courses such as Writing for Media and Multimedia Journalism, among other media offerings. If you are qualified to other media courses in your own area of specialization, please indicate this in your letter of application. If you have experience with non-traditional formats (online or hybrid), please also indicate this in your letter. 

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements: 

  • A Master's degree in journalism, media or equivalent degree in a related field.

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Professional experience in journalism and multimedia storytelling.
  • Experience teaching professional writing or writing-based media for print and multimedia production.
  • Experience teaching or mentoring an ethnically diverse, working student body.
