Web Application Server Administrator
Indiana State University's Office of Information Technology is seeking a skilled Web Application Server Administrator to join our team and ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our web application environments. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in Linux-based systems and Java-based applications who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.
Job Summary:
As a Web Application Server Administrator, you will be responsible for deploying, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing web application servers and middle-tier applications-primarily Apache Tomcat on RHEL8 Linux. You'll support both development and production environments, manage deployments, monitor system health, and troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues. Working closely with system administrators, developers, and security teams, you'll help ensure our web-based applications run smoothly and securely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain web application servers, primarily Apache Tomcat on RHEL8 Linux.
- Manage application deployments, patches, and updates across environments.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and security; implement tuning and optimization.
- Troubleshoot server, application, and connectivity issues.
- Configure server security, including SSL/TLS and SAML SSO authentication.
- Collaborate with system administrators and IT managers to support application lifecycle management.
- Document server configurations, procedures, and operational standards.
- Stay current with security patches, software updates, and emerging technologies.
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and 3-4 years of experience.
