Job Description

The General Dentistry and Specialty Faculty in the College of Dental Medicine is responsible for teaching all forms of comprehensive general dentistry to pre-doctoral students. The General Dentistry and Specialty Faculty reports directly to the Vice Dean for Academic and Clinical Education and works in close cooperation with the Office of the Dean to support the Schools programs and initiatives

Required Qualifications

. DDS or DMD from a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accredited institution . Minimum of 15 years of private practice experience . 5 years teaching experience . AEGD, GPR, or Specialty training preferred . Forensic Fellowship Certification preferred . Eligibility for dental licensure in Tennessee Full time or Part time: Full and/or Part Time

Job Duties
  • . Instructing pre-doctoral students in the following environments: simulation laboratory, didactic (classroom / seminar), and clinic.
  • . Willingness to learn or apply the skills to prepare and teach pre-clinical General Dentistry
  • . Willingness and ability to cover pre-doctoral students in the clinical setting in procedures as pertaining to the General Dentistry Clinic Model of the College of Dental Medicine.
  • . Helping ensure that the dental students are competent in the management of patients requiring all disciplines of dentistry
  • . Commitment to participating in faculty practice or supporting/providing preclinical/clinical instruction as a substitute
  • . Participating in emergency call
  • . Seeking to serve on committees and boards for state/federal government agencies, professional societies, and/or within the school
  • . Providing coverage as needed to the Community Service Outreach Clinics for clinical teaching and patient care
  • . Actively engaging in community service with students / residents
  • . Commitment to conducting basic and/or clinical research, and other scholarly activities that will help qualify for appropriate promotion
