Job Description

As a Clinical Supervisor, your responsibilities include collaborating with the Faculty Team Leader to manage patient assignments in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), monitoring and tracking student progress and clinical competencies, addressing student and patient issues, overseeing student attendance and chair utilization, and inputting student grades. You will be expected to perform chairside assisting tasks, instrument sterilization, x-ray acquisition, and EHR patient record management and other clinical tasks as needed. A good understanding of systems, flexibility, and the ability to develop strong working relationships with the student dentist and dental faculty while promoting teamwork are essential. This role is vitally important in maintaining the highest level of dental care provided to our valued patients

Required Qualifications

An active Tennessee Registered Dental Assistant license and two years of prior dental assisting experience is required. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and spend long periods of time standing

Job Duties
  • Work closely with the assigned Faculty Team Leader to assign patients to students in the Electronic Health Record (EHR
  • Monitor student progress toward competency by tracking completion of clinical competencies. Input student grades
  • Alert the Faculty Team Leader regarding all student and patient issues. Stay alert and observant for student errors related to patient safety or infection control. Intervene in urgent situations and report other incidents to the Team Leader.
  • Assist with monitoring student attendance and chair utilization
  • Perform equipment maintenance and testing per manufacturer recommendations. Direct students as needed to ensure daily/weekly/monthly preventive maintenance task checklists are completed
  • Display a keen ability to multi-task, being a self-starter who consistently takes the initiative
  • Ensure clinic compliance with all Infection Control, OSHA, HIPAA regulations
  • Present a warm, confident, compassionate, and professional appearance and demeanor, whether on the phone or in person. Exemplify a caring attitude, cheerfulness, and eagerness to help
  • Communicate with patients in collaboration with the student dentist regarding financial or scheduling needs. Adhere to clinic patient financial policy requirements. Work closely with clinic management to assist patients that are unable to pay
  • Complete CareCredit training and be prepared to present financing information to patients
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure that the patient has an excellent experience and is given proper expectations to be seen at our clinic
  • Replenish clinic location supplies, make copies of student rubrics, consents and other documents as needed
  • Assist students with acquiring digital scans and processing scan files as needed
  • Communicate with supply dispensary personnel to assist students during patient care
  • Perform chairside assisting tasks, instrument sterilization, x-ray acquisition, and EHR patient record management and other clinical tasks as needed
  • Be prepared to serve in an active role during clinic emergency code events and protocols
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Required to have current CPR certification and keep RDA licensure up to date.
