Job Description

The instructional faculty member shall have the primary responsibilities of teaching undergraduate education candidates at the Harrogate main campus. The instructional faculty member will design course assignments in compliance with Tennessee Board of Education EPP policies, Carter & Moyers School of Education policies, and accreditation requirements. The instructional faculty member shall be held accountable for these obligations as they contribute to the attainment of the mission of the University, School, and the Department.

Required Qualifications

Masters Degree in Special Education and three years minimum of teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

EdD or PhD Degree with Special Education and three years minimum
of teaching experience

  • attend new student registration
  • participate in new student life review sessions
  • advise international students in administrative and personal matters
  • oversee program quality and budget
  • collaborate with university staff in matters of initial and on-going orientation programs, immigration and SEVIS regulations, and recruitment
  • develop strategic plans, program services, and outcomes assessment
  • advocate for international students with university and community groups
  • support program planning for international student social activities
  • coordinate university international student initiatives
  • schedule standardized placement tests for LMU international students; *advise international students
  • tutor international students enrolled in LMU courses
  • serve as liaison between the Principal of the Kanto International Senior High School and Lincoln Memorial University with focused oversight of the program s academic component
  • assist with coordination of the Kanto Program in all aspects of the program, as time permits, including, but not limited to, housing, transportation, excursions, and overnight trips that might require evening and weekend work
  • work with the Assistant Director in the staffing and scheduling of nighttime hall monitors and high-school level instructors for Kanto educational course offerings
  • meet regularly with both the Japanese and American instructors involved in the Kanto program
  • work with the Assistant Director in the coordination of emergency medical treatment as needed
  • teach courses for the Kanto program when needed
  • oversee all international programs to ensure effective and efficient day-to-day operations and success of the programs
  • perform other duties as assigned
  • Coordinate with International Student Recruitment and Advisement, The Assistant Director for International Student Services, The Vice President for Academic and Student Services, and University Legal Counsel to cultivate, develop, write, and implement Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with international universities for the purpose of faculty visits, visiting scholars, short term scholars, stude
  • Archive and maintain a record of finalized MOU documents so as to ensure that agreed-upon academic and student service programming is accomplished throughout the duration of MOU agreements
  • Using agreed-upon MOU documents, write and send official LMU invitation letters to international visitors for Visa documentation;
  • Serve as the governmental contact person for MOU purposes
  • Coordinate with academic deans and department heads to develop an appropriate academic schedule of activities for international visitors, ensuring that said academic activities are consistent with Visa allowances and are consistent with the finalized MOU
  • Work with the Assistant Director for International Student Services to develop a schedule of events appropriate for international visitors, and ensure that said events are allowable under the constraints set-forth within finalized MOU documents
