PART-TIME FACULTY POSITION IN GENETICS/BIOSTATISTICS

Biology Department seeks Instructors to teach the following classes:
Genetics (Fall 2025): A sophomore level 3-credit genetics course designed to prepare Boston College Biology majors for future coursework in Biology. This course explores the fundamental concepts in molecular and transmission genetics in prokaryotes and eukaryotes and the applications of this foundation to the study of genotype-phenotype relationships. Important topics include regulation of gene expression, Mendelian genetics, the chromosomal theory of inheritance, population genetics, multifactorial inheritance, genetic linkage and epigenetic inheritance. Students will also be introduced to some of the tools that are commonly used for genetic and genomic analysis. Enrollment cap is 120.
Class time:
T/Th 9-10:15 am.
Part time faculty receive a competitive salary on a per course basis. In addition, part time faculty in the Biology Department have shared office space to prepare lectures and meet with students. Responsibilities include:
- prepare and deliver course lectures at the assigned course time
- prepare discussion material for the graduate TAs
- write and grade examinations (with graduate TA support)
- be available for 2-3 office hours per week
- write letters of recommendation when appropriate
Qualifications:
Qualifications: Instructors teaching lecture courses must have an MS, PhD, or other advanced degree in an appropriate field of study. We will consider post-doctoral fellows seeking university teaching experience.
