Objective

Perform piano accompaniment at scheduled practices, concerts, productions and as needed.

Required Quals Summary

Bachelor's degree in music with significant accompanying experience. Additional significant accompanying experience may be considered instead of a degree. Ability to sight read or prepare, prior to rehearsal, piano accompaniments and choral scores.

Special Notes To Applicants

A live audition in Brenham, TX is required for this position. Candidates will be expected to be prepared for the following:
1. One selection from either 24 Italian Songs and Arias OR 50 Selected Songs by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Strauss, and Wolf. The selection, including music, will be given to the candidate at the audition.
2. Prepare to accompany the aria "Votre toast, je peux vous le rendre" from Carmen
3.
Candidates will also need to sight read a choral score, which will be provided at the audition. Travel expenses will not be reimbursed for auditioning candidates.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Accompany any of the following ensembles (specific assignments to be determined on a semester by semester basis) during the regular academic year (August to May):
  • Concert Choir (Tuesdays from 7-8:15pm, Thursdays 12-1:15pm)
  • Chamber Choir (2:50 - 4:05pm Monday/Wednesday, 1-2pm Fridays)
  • Vocal Seminar (12-12:50pm on Tuesdays)
2. Perform piano accompaniment at scheduled concerts and productions.
3. Accompany singers at weekly master class and at scheduled vocal recitals.
4. Other hours may be assigned per availability and department need.

Minimum Qualifications
