Director of Residence Life
Position Summary:
The Department of Residence Life (DRL) at Simpson College is seeking a dynamic individual to join and lead our team as the Director of Residence Life. The DRL serves on the Leadership Team for the Student Development Division and oversees occupancy management functions of housing operations (housing selection/assignment, opening/closing).
Key Responsibilities:
- Drectly supervises the Assistant Director of Residence Life and the Area Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life
- Oversees the administration of apartments (housing approximately 400 students and supervising 9 student staff in the upper-class housing communities)
- Serves as the secondary on-call professional,
- Oversees the departmental budget, and tends to the development of interpersonal relationships with students through the leadership of staff, programming implementation, conduct meetings and the counseling/advising of students.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field is required.
- Position is 12-months, live-off or live-on (pets & partners permitted; salary commensurate with housing). Remuneration includes a two-bedroom house with attached garage (some utilities paid by occupant), meal plan (while school is in session), competitive salary, and full benefits package.

Simpson College is a vibrant four-year private college affiliated with the United Methodist Church located in Indianola, Iowa. Simpson’s full residential community houses over 90 percent of the college’s full-time population of approximately 1200 students. The town of Indianola has a population of around 16,000 and is located 12 miles south of Des Moines.
