Position Highlights

The laboratory of Dr. Nan-kuei Chen at the Department of Biomedical Engineering is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Researcher/Scientist III to work on research studies focused on development of advanced neurological MRI pulse sequences and reconstruction and application to aging research. This research will utilize multi-contrast MRI approaches, ranging from structural MRI, to functional MRI, to perfusion MRI, to iron-sensitive imaging, to study human brains across the age.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Developing pulse sequences for multi-contrast MRI (e.g., structural MRI, functional MRI, diffusion MRI, perfusion MRI, iron-sensitive imaging).
  • Performing human MRI experiments.
  • Analyzing the acquired MRI data using advanced k-space reconstruction procedures, as well as appropriate statistical approaches.
  • Reporting the findings in scientific journals, and presentations in scientific conferences.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent laboratory and analytical skills and commitment to scientific excellence and innovation.
  • Knowledge of coordinating experiments, and completing statistics analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to conduct research independently and within a team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or related areas.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in writing MRI pulse sequences that are compatible with Siemens MRI scanners (that are being used in our Precision Aging Network studies at the University of Arizona).

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
