Position Highlights
The Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) at the University of Arizona is the only CEA accredited (Commission on English Language Program Accreditation) in Arizona. CESL offers high-quality English language and teacher training programs on main campus and around the world. Duties & Responsibilities
The duties
of the position include but are not limited to:
- Work
with individual tutoring students or small groups if part of CESL-arranged
support - Establish
learning goals with tutee at beginning of tutoring sessions - Prepare
lessons and materials accordingly - Follow
the tutor tutee agreement - Sign
the mutual agreement with tutee at beginning of tutoring sessions - Maintain
a log of tutoring sessions with submission of a copy to Tutoring
Coordinator/Associate Director (TC/AD) and a copy to student - Provide
support to courses and learning activities as requested - Adhere
to university code of conduct policies - Tutor
designated groups of students or maintain open tutoring hours as assigned - Be evaluated annually by TC/AD based on student feedback, observations
and/or any other relevant data - Check
UA email daily during the week - Maintain
regular contact with TC/AD - Submit time tutored each pay period in UAccess and
via email report on time on a bi-weekly basis
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- English language fluency
- Educational training in English, Applied Linguistics, Foreign Language, or
- Basic TEFL Certificate
- Language tutoring or teaching experience
- Experience working with international students

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
