Position Description
Employees in this classification are responsible for the planning, organization, direction, and evaluation of patient care services (primarily nursing services) within an assigned specialty or sub-specialty area in one of the ambulatory clinics. Persons in this position provide supervision and direction to subordinate nursing personnel, coordinating the nursing service with the medical services in order to provide an efficient and professional environment for optimum production in health care for the patient. Employees are also responsible for providing professional nursing care within the assigned area of work. Supervisory duties include but are not limited to interviewing applicants for vacant nursing positions and making the final selection, maintaining personnel records regarding leave time, evaluations, and personnel problems, conducting employee evaluations, approving and coordinating leave time for nursing personnel, and assisting personnel in setting work-related goals. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Reports data, identifies and reports alterations in patient responses to assist in the identification of problems and formulation of goals/ outcomes and patient-centered plans of care in collaboration with patients, their families, and the interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Assists in determining the physical and mental health status, needs, and preferences of patients and their families.
  • Communicates patient data using EMR to support decision-making to improve patient care.
  • Implements teaching plans for patients and their families with health learning needs.
  • Attends Nursing staff meetings.
  • Participates in the identification of patient needs for referral to resources and facilitates continuity of care.
  • Assists with or performs exams and procedures, and documents intervention in EMR.
  • Takes and records accurate vital signs and measurements.
  • Communicates with patients via telephone per clinic protocols.
  • Prepares and operates necessary equipment and instruments for examinations, treatments and procedures.
  • Stocks and inspects the inventory of supplies in examination and treatment rooms.
  • Completes Annual Nursing Core Competency Training and Skills Fair.
  • Accurately reviews INR results for patients on Anti-Coagulation therapy, adjusting dose and communicating instructions to the patient or caregiver based on department protocol.
  • Supervises and instructs subordinate nursing personnel as per clinic structure.
  • Serves as a Mentor and promotes, assesses, and evaluates the educational needs and requirements specific to job disciplines of your staff and self within your departmental assignment.
Required Qualifications
Education: Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program. License/Certification: Current RN license in the State of Texas or ability to obtain a Texas license. Experience: At least four years in nursing, with at least two of those years in a supervisory capacity.

Pay Basis: Monthly

Pay Statement
