Position Summary

The Admissions Counselor or Assistant Director of Admissions opening is for a full-time, entry-level position in the Admissions Office. Responsibilities include admissions recruitment and selection duties; 6-9 weeks of recruitment travel; territory management and relationship-building in assigned geographic areas; interviewing; public speaking, and application review. Additional responsibilities include organizing and coordinating events for prospective students, preparing communications content, and other admission-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree, and a valid United States driver's license is required. Experience in undergraduate college admissions as an admissions counselor, admissions intern and/or admissions tour guide is preferred. Title and salary dependent on years of experience.

The successful candidate should have excellent demonstrated abilities in the following: communicate verbally and in writing; speak confidently in front of large groups; effectively organize activities and projects on time; work collaboratively and well with a diverse group of people in a dynamic environment, and analyze data effectively for program improvement. Gettysburg College seeks candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues and community members. It is expected that the successful candidate will have an interest in creating an inclusive campus community and have a commitment to a residential liberal arts and sciences college experience.
