Description
The School of Healthcare Business and Technology seeks an innovative and entrepreneurial Director for the Health Technology MBA program to join our team and lead this new, high-impact initiative. As the inaugural Director, you'll have the unique opportunity to shape the future of health technology and management at MCPHS, guiding program development and collaboration across the university and industry partnerships. This full-time faculty appointment includes teaching responsibilities in related coursework on the Boston campus and online. The incumbent will oversee program growth and build partnerships that drive real-world impact.
Reporting to the Dean of the School of Healthcare Business and Technology, the Director will actively elevate MCPHS as a leader in health technology and management sectors, including life sciences. You'll work closely with the Dean and industry-focused colleagues to forge new relationships, expand student experiential learning opportunities, and ensure our programs remain aligned with the latest industry trends. This role is based on our Boston or Worcester campus, with the opportunity for inter-campus collaboration and flexibility in scheduling.
Strategic Leadership & Vision:
- Establish and lead Health Tech MBA programming within the School of Healthcare Business and Technology at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
- Develop and articulate a forward-thinking vision for the future of health tech and management education, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the healthcare, life sciences, and biopharma industries.
- Identify academic opportunities that prepare the next generation of leaders for roles in healthcare, life sciences, biopharma, and related sectors.
- Support the incorporation of co-curricular experiences to broaden the education of students and expand their knowledge of collaboration in healthcare.
- Develop and deliver high-quality instruction in the classroom and facilitate engaging seminars and events targeted to the student audience.
- Collaborate with academic leaders to design, implement, and oversee the new MBA program and courses.
- Lead curriculum development focused on applying management and leadership to healthcare, tech-bio, and life sciences, with particular emphasis on applications of technology.
- Ensure alignment of academic programs with current industry trends and the needs of future employers.
- Foster a culture of innovation and research related to technology in healthcare and life sciences, encouraging faculty and students to explore cutting-edge solutions to real-world problems.
- Serve as a thought leader in health tech, publishing and presenting research, and contributing to the global community.
- Establish partnerships with key industry stakeholders, including biopharma companies, clinical organizations, and technology firms.
- Facilitate experiential learning opportunities such as internships, capstone projects, and industry collaborations to enhance student learning and professional development.
- Build and lead a team of faculty and staff overseeing program development and research opportunities.
- Establish program goals, policies, and procedures in alignment with the overall strategic plan of MCPHS.
- Participate in service/volunteer activities and University and school committees as assigned; serve on regional, state, or national organization committees.
- Engage in scholarship resulting in conference presentations, publishable manuscripts, peer-reviewed instructional materials, or other outcomes consistent with expectations for scholarly activities described in the Faculty Manual.
- Mentor, advise, and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, phone or email, and other University-approved mechanisms.
- Attend and participate in school and department meetings, University ceremonies, and other significant events, including commencement, retreats, and other on-campus meetings.
- The supervisor may assign additional responsibilities.
Required:
- MHA, MBA, or related graduate degree with professional experience in healthcare, life sciences, or a related setting
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant teaching experience
- Proven experience building and leading graduate programs or related experience
- Strong understanding of management and technology applications in healthcare or life sciences industries
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with academic and industry partners and manage teams
- Excellent leadership, communication, and written skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate in a related field
- Proven track record of working on interdisciplinary projects that bridge academia and industry.
- Experience developing and launching new initiatives, academic programs, or student/junior staff mentoring.
- Familiarity with emerging trends in health technology and the healthcare industry.
- Willingness to participate in international travel to support SHB travel seminars.
Physical Requirements:
- Use of a computer to conduct classroom instruction, record sessions, and attend meetings with students, staff, and administration;
- Ability to participate in face-to-face classes, as well as meetings within the university and the surrounding community;
- The incumbent must be able to travel to regional organizations, campuses, and various professional meetings regularly;
- Must be able to utilize technology in teaching and delivering education, including recording lectures, posting videos, and using the university LMS and tools provided for grading and student feedback
