Assistant Director - Undergraduate Admission
In the Office of Undergraduate Admission, we continue to work to recruit and retain such students from diverse backgrounds. We also focus on versatile policies and practices that build a sense of community among people with many backgrounds, skills, and strengths.
Our Office of Undergraduate Admission is looking for an Assistant Director of Admission to support a dynamic and growing team. The Admission office is a fast-paced office within a highly selective university, offering a diverse environment and variety in the workload. As an Assistant Director, you will recruit and counsel a diverse group of academically and/or artistically qualified student applicants to the university. You will be part of a team of admission staff members working through the admission decision-making process for one or more of the academic colleges within the university.
You will travel locally and domestically which is concentrated most heavily in the fall, as well as coordinate events which may require some night and weekend hours.
Core responsibilities include:
- Manages outreach and recruitment activities and high school relations within assigned geographic territory; counsels prospective undergraduate students and their families and assists with all types of recruitment and enrollment activities in the Office of Admission
- manages recruitment territory
- analyzes prospective student data; plans and implements territory specific recruitment activities and events; develops positive relationships with high school counselors, community based organization advisors and/or other key partners; travels to high schools, community colleges, and college fairs to represent the university;
- conducts large and small group presentations; counsels prospective students and families regarding the financial aid process and the value and options of paying for a CMU education;
- monitors territory recruitment budget; assists with on-campus and off-campus recruitment projects; counsels and corresponds with undergraduate applicants and prospective students regarding university admissions policies, procedures, and general information; reviews admissions applications; researches and resolves problems; assists with liaison activities and special programs;
- generates correspondence; completes special assignments; evening and weekend hours are required.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 1-3 years of related experience in academic admissions
- A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
- Child Protection Clearances (PA Act 153)
