Job Description:

The Department of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics at Russell Sage College invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice to begin Fall 2025. Teaching responsibilities will include mathematics, general education courses in the physical and natural sciences, and algebra-based physics labs. Courses are likely to primarily serve first to third year undergraduate students. The Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics Department has primary responsibility for all chemistry, physics, and mathematics courses taught at the undergraduate level. In addition, the department is also responsible for physical and natural science general education courses. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty within and outside the department to develop and improve the quantitative reasoning components of the general education program and to support mathematics competencies needed by students pursuing a wide variety of majors. Russell Sage College employs Boyer's model of scholarship to balance roles of faculty in the promotion process. In addition to teaching and service, faculty advise students, and pursue professional accomplishments and/or scholarship in their field. 

The estimated base academic year salary range for this position is $52,000- $54,000, commensurate with experience.

Requirements:

  • A graduate degree in either Mathematics or one of the Physical Sciences with a strong mathematics component.
  • A Master of Education with an undergraduate physics major or similar would also be considered.
  • Teaching experience at the high school or college undergraduate level strongly preferred.
