Summary of Position



The Physician Assistant (PA) School Admissions Specialist provides essential administrative support throughout the PA program's admissions cycle, with a primary responsibility for processing applications submitted through the Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA). This role ensures that all application materials-including transcripts, course substitutions, and documentation of healthcare experience-are thoroughly reviewed and accurately organized. The Specialist evaluates academic records against prerequisite requirements by researching course catalogs and syllabi to confirm course eligibility and calculates total healthcare hours worked by each applicant. Additionally, the position supports admissions reporting by generating detailed summaries for the PA Program Director and faculty regarding applicant status, including acceptance rates, waitlist numbers, and outstanding material.

The hourly pay for this position is $21.74. This is a part-time, remote FLSA non-exempt temporary staff position. The position offers up to 20 hours per week for a duration of up to 9 months, based on need and budget availability. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Exceptional attention to detail - for accurately reviewing transcripts, calculating healthcare hours, and verifying prerequisite coursework.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills - to manage application materials, meet deadlines, and maintain efficient workflows throughout the admissions cycle.
  • Effective communication abilities - to clearly convey information, follow up with applicants, and collaborate with faculty and staff.

  • Verbal and written communication skills including the ability to give and receive information accurately
  • Ability to create and keep deadlines, pay attention to details, keep work organized and follow through
  • Knowledge of higher education course structure and ability to interpret transcripts
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and tested experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a science discipline with strong knowledge of higher education science sequencing of courses
  • Knowledge of healthcare professions
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
  • This is a remote position 
  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs. 
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
