Job Summary
The Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor of Music Education (1-year appointment) beginning in Fall 2025. We seek a teacher-scholar with expertise in Elementary and Secondary General Music. Preference will be given to those with expertise in choral conducting and methods, and classroom piano. Opportunities may also arise to teach courses in early childhood education, English language learners, and accessible education and adaptive learning; therefore, expertise in one or more of these areas is also welcome. Teaching load for this position will be the equivalent of six courses annually.
Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate the potential to successfully teach a foundational course in music education, courses in elementary and secondary general music, classroom piano for music majors, and music student teaching seminar. Candidates will supervise music student teachers in the field and will assist in coordinating the music education program.

Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence in undergraduate teaching and a proven understanding of the ideals and goals of a liberal arts education. Successful relevant school teaching experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate in their pedagocial practices how they cultivate a sense of belonging among diverse student groups. Masters degree required for appointment at the rank of instructor; completed doctorate required for appointment at the rank of assistant professor.
