Job Description
The Student Learning Specialist 12-month, full-time Administrative Professional position. The Student Learning Specialist reports to the Program Director for the Master of Science (MS) Programs. The Student Learning Specialist plays a supportive role in strengthening the University's efforts to provide quality advising and promote the success of graduate students who are at-risk academically during participation of the MS Program. This position supports an innovative and holistic approach to providing students with the assistance, guidance and resources necessary to be successful. The primary functions of the Student Learning Specialist are to assist the Director in providing Academic Support to MS Students who are struggling academically. The Student Learning Specialist's duties include: assisting in advising students, connecting students to faculty, maintaining student records, interacting with faculty members, providing study skills, partnering with campus offices in students' first semester at the University, and assisting the Director in the daily operations of the Academic Support Program.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; *two (2) or more years' experience in academic success; * ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively to a variety of constituents.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree *experience advising college students. *experience working with college students

Job Duties
- Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large
- Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
- Assist the Program Director with supplying Academic Support to enrolled MS students
- Academic monitoring, gathering of data for reports, and counseling with designated academic at-risk students. Helps the Program Director complete required institutional, program accreditation and other reports necessary for the advancement of the University and its programs
- Work with students to develop an Academic Plan: Short- and Long-Term
- Continually measure progress of individual students through graduation
- Participate in the development and implementation of a comprehensive assessment plan for MS Program
- Develop familiarity with issues certain populations of students may face (non-traditional students, students of color, first-generation college students, transfer students, etc.) and incorporate this perspective into developmental advising approaches
- Treat each student as an individual, understanding that each student's path to degree attainment may be different
- Develop and utilize advising best practices that combine department/program-level knowledge and campus-wide perspective
- actively participate in the regular meetings with other Academic Support personnel for sharing of best practices
- Participate in campus-wide intervention strategies
- Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of and referral to campus resources and opportunities
