Essential Job Duties:
This position will provide professional individual and group counseling services and outreach to NC State students as well as consultation to University administrators, staff and others who have concerns about the mental/emotional status of NC State students. The staff member will be embedded within the Campus Centers to primarily serve students who visit those centers. They will consult and build relationships with center staff and gain an understanding of the unique needs of the population served. This position will focus on serving students in the African-American cultural center and multicultural student affairs.
This position will assist in all areas of Counseling Center functioning including but not limited to:
- Provide individual and group counseling of NC State students/clients (personal, academic, and vocational assessment and counseling); psychological assessment; developmental and crisis counseling; couples counseling; evaluation of students for withdrawal from the University
- Develop and participate in outreach programming, hold lets talk drop in spaces
- Consult with faculty staff, parents, and others
- Provide evaluations and recommendations regarding students with academic and conduct problems
- Participate in after hours "on call" and possible evening office hours
- General administrative responsibilities
Other Work/Responsibilities:
- This position may involve participation in supervision/training of graduate students and program evaluation; all other duties as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience/Education:
- Master's degree required and a doctorate preferred in psychology, counseling, or clinical social work or closely-related field.
- Appropriate licensure must be obtained/maintained according to NC laws.
Required Qualifications:
- Established commitment to culturally informed and responsive services
- Strong clinical skills
- Experience in handling crisis situations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a college/university counseling center
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a large mental health services agency
- Previous work with electronic records and scheduling, preferably Titanium
- Experience in risk assessment.
- Ability to provide clinical supervision
Required License or Certification:
- Must meet all state law requirements for licensure in mental health discipline
