Job Description
The Staff Accountant will complete assignments in all areas of accounting operations in the Finance Division. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for all regular accounting/auditing/internal control functions necessary for the efficient financial operations of the University, including but not limited to cash and debt management, all aspects of general accounting, and timely and accurate financial reporting. The Staff Accountant will be a key liaison with the Universitys external auditors, as well as other internal and external constituencies.
Required Qualifications
A bachelors degree in accounting and three years professional experience in accounting
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a higher education or similar organization, experience in fund accounting, experience with the Ellucian Colleague system, knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, ability to organize and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision, ability to maintain confidentiality, ability to interact with individuals on all levels of the institution, as well as a variety of external constituents, strong computer skills, especially using Microsoft Word and Excel (with a background with the Ellucian administrative system strongly desirable), & the ability to understand, communicate and implement University policies and procedures.

Job Duties
- promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large;
- promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students;
- participate on university committees
- provide for and assist in appropriate accounting in accordance with cognizant standards and University policies;
- supervise and cooperate with other staff to complete daily, monthly and yearly tasks in cash management, debt management, journal maintenance and report preparation
- cooperate closely with external auditors in preparation for and completion of required annual audit;
- cooperate and assist as needed in completion of annual reporting for tax and other compliance purposes;
- establish, recommend, and implement accounting processes to promote and enhance internal control;
- oversee and assist with completion of required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University;
- perform other duties as assigned
