Position Highlights
The Biopolymer Materials Group led by Dr. Minkyu Kim at the University of Arizona, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher. The ideal candidate will have expertise in (bio)synthetic polymer fabrication, materials characterization, and instrumentation for environmental applications. Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research on (1) polymer self-assembly and characterization, (2) environmental chamber development, and (3) field studies in mining environments. Perform advanced sample analysis, validate measurements, and document findings. Process and analyze research data to generate meaningful insights. Disseminate research outcomes through publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals and presentations at reputable scientific conferences.
- Help oversee and coordinate the work of graduate and undergraduate research assistants, providing guidance to ensure research quality, efficiency, and alignment with project objectives.
- Participate in grant proposal preparation with the principal investigator.
- Contribute to writing reports for funding sponsors, ensuring accurate documentation of research progress and outcomes.
- Regularly maintain lab equipment and help oversee laboratory operations to ensure safe and efficient experimentation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of environmental science and engineering.
- Skills to characterize polymers and polymeric materials.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience with (bio)synthetic polymer fabrication, materials characterization, and instrumentation for environmental applications.
- Demonstrated track record of scientific publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals.
- Expertise in polymer fabrication and characterization
- Experience in preparing, writing, editing and revising research articles.
