Overall Job Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Human Resources Professional to oversee and manage all aspects of HR functions in a dynamic, one-person office environment. As the sole HR professional, you have a unique opportunity to shape our HR strategy, overseeing the full scope of human resources and assisting staff and faculty in the areas of employment, compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, investigation & resolution of complaints &/or grievances, maintaining policies and procedures, and staff orientation, training, and development.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Support administration by providing human resources advice and counsel.
  2. Update human resource policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; oversee recruitment and selection processes.
  3. Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation, and ensure college compliance with Title
    IX regulations, and federal and state legislation.
  4. Assist with creating and updating position descriptions for new and current employees.
  5. Prepare reports for the Coordinating Board and the State Comptroller's Office.
  6. Advise all new employees of benefits and complete required paperwork (I-9, W-4).
  7. Prepare job advertisements, job descriptions, files, and all other aspects of the Affirmative Action Officer.
  8. Oversee the campus for Americans with Disabilities Act and stay abreast of changes.
  9. Stay abreast of insurance policy needs and prepare insurance bids.
  10. Stay informed about the Family & Medical Leave Act & benefits available to employees.
  11. Oversee employee training and development, including onboarding.
  12. Develop and maintain a human resource system that meets college personnel information needs.
  13. Conduct exit interviews with outgoing personnel.
  14. Required to be collegial, respectful, and professional with faculty, staff, and students at all times.
  15. Workplace attendance is essential for job function.
  16. The ability to work full-time is essential.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required. Master’s degree or professional PHR/ SHRM certification preferred, experience as an HR Generalist, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with progressive human resources experience. The ability to maintain confidentiality is paramount.
  3. Must be a thoughtful, effective collaborator who possesses strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability, flexibility, and creativity to plan and manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in an independent work environment.
