The College of Engineering at West Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Engineering or Computer Science with a research emphasis in water-related systems. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in mechanical, civil, industrial, electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related field by the time of appointment.

We are seeking a dynamic scholar and educator with the ability to contribute to teaching and research in areas such as water resources, water management, water system design and operation, or data analysis and modeling of water-related projects. The ideal candidate will complement and enhance the College’s existing strengths and help advance research that serves the needs of rural regions like the Texas Panhandle.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or computer science discipline (required).
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate engineering courses.
  • Strong research record or demonstrated potential in water-related engineering.
  • Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and externally funded research.
  • Capacity to mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Tenure-track faculty are expected to:

  • Establish a sustainable and nationally recognized research program.
  • Publish high-quality, peer-reviewed research.
  • Engage in institutional, professional, and community service.
  • Foster innovation in teaching and curriculum development.

College Information: The College of Engineering consists of 45 full-time faculty, over 750 undergraduates, and 120 graduate students across a wide range of disciplines, including mechanical, civil, electrical, and environmental engineering, engineering technology, computer science, and mathematics.
