Position Overview:

Southwestern University has an immediate opening for a Coordinator of Student Activities. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Activities. the Coordinator assists with planning, executing, and overseeing all student related activities and functions for the department of student activities. This position is on-campus housing benefit eligible. This is a full-time non-exempt position eligible for our comprehensive benefits program.

Essential Duties:

  • Promotes and supports campus clubs and organizations; promotes the creation and development of new campus clubs and organizations; provides an annual orientation for all clubs and organizations; maintains appropriate contact with all clubs and organizations, including advisors.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate campus events such as Welcome Weeks, Homecoming Weekend, Friday Night Live Cove Events, Concerts, Comedy Programs, Novelties, etc.
  • Assist in managing the Student Activities budget.
  • Coordinates, prepares, and disseminates publications and communications related to clubs and organizations. These include: implementing and overseeing processes for posting/distributing of materials on campus as requested; editing and providing feedback for student flyers for on and off campus distribution.
  • Maintains and regularly publishes an up to date calendar of activities and events that is made available to all students at Southwestern University.
  • Collaborates with University Relations on engaging students during Homecoming weekend.

Additional Duties

  • Develops and maintains an appropriate student life environment within the student engagement center
  • Supervises student staff
  • Serve on the on-call duty schedule if lived on campus
  • Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students
  • Collaborate across the Division of Student Life and the University on student-centered activities
  • Serves as a planner and driver of Pirate Adventures throughout Central Texas by coordinating travel arrangements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Higher education experience
  • Event planning background
  • Have knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.
  • Driver’s license to drive a University van.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree

Starting Pay: $18.80 hr. The final offer for the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience and may exceed the starting pay.
