Assistant Professor of Chemistry - Bioorganic Chemistry
The Department of Natural Sciences (DNS) at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track assistant professor position specializing in bioorganic chemistry. DNS houses the biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and environmental science undergraduate programs and graduate programs in chemistry, marine-estuarine and environmental sciences, and toxicology creating an outstanding collaborative environment. We seek candidates who have the capacity to teach to a diverse student population and prepare students broadly for futures in industry, government, and graduate and professional schools. Teaching responsibilities supporting our ACS-certified chemistry program include undergraduate and graduate organic chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, and/or courses in the candidate’s specific areas of expertise. The successful candidate will create a strong, collaborative research program that complements research across the School of Agriculture and Natural Sciences (SANS) and that strengthens DNS research activity in the chemistry-biology-environment nexus. This may include studies of organic compounds in the environment, interactions between organic compounds and biological systems, or fates and transformations of organic compounds in the environment or living systems.
