Job Summary

The Health Promotions Graduate Assistant will report directly to the Health Promotions Coordinator. This individual will assist in the oversight, promotion, and assessment of the Wellness Coaching program, which is a free resource that helps students achieve a well-adjusted and healthy lifestyle. This position will serve as the main Wellness Coach who will be using the 8 Dimensions of Wellness model. This individual will also support health promotion and wellness efforts and programs, such as Wellness Warrior, by providing education, events and resources to the FGCU community.

Job Description

Typical duties include but not limited to:

  • Maintain a robust training program for future Wellness Coaches by developing a program or finding affordable training programs.
  • Attend meetings and other educational sessions related to the development of the Wellness Coaching program.
  • Promote the Wellness Coaching service through various marketing platforms, emails, outreach presentations, tables, and events including submissions to our Marketing Request form to gain more student engagement.
  • Find avenues to integrate Wellness Coaching and work collaboratively with academia, student engagement, and other campus areas.
  • Develop a streamlined communication process for Wellness Coaching students ranging from welcome/introductory emails, reminders, follow up communications, and more.
  • Support student development and work through wellness concerns such as academics, finances, relationships, sexual health, drug use, and more in appointments.
  • Administer and analyze pre & post-assessments of the Wellness Coaching program to assess and report growth and effectiveness of the overall program to the supervisor and appropriate stakeholders.
  • Prepare a statistical, analytical, and narrative report on data collected each semester to be used for decision making, targeting missing populations, and program improvement.
  • Lead motivational 30-minute one-on-one coaching sessions to help students understand and address personal, social or behavioral challenges that affect their personal development and their conduct standing.
  • Refer students to accurate campus and community resources.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement that enables the program to achieve its strategic goals.
  • Plan and coordinate one event a semester outside of the department’s signature events on a topic area that aligns with the department’s general health topics, an interest of the Graduate Assistant, and related to college students.
  • Support Prevention & Wellness events such as the “Eagle Wellness Fair” and “Party with P&W” by gathering materials, staffing, and assisting where needed.
  • Submit health and wellness content monthly to our department's marketing request form to be shared on URecWell social media platforms.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Coordinator for support, progress updates, and feedback on Graduate Assistant tasks.
  • Seek a minimum of 1 professional development opportunity to support their role as a graduate assistant (i.e. Clifton Strengths Assessment, webinars, workshops, conferences, certificates, etc.).

Additional Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout the appointment.
  • Available during department office hours, which are Monday - Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. except for university closures.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and Outlook) and learn new applications and systems.
  • Available to serve as a Graduate Assistant for the Summer 2025, Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Experience with software such as Anthology (Campus Labs) Engage Platform aka Eagle Link, Qualtrics, and Workday.
  • Familiar with health promotion.
  • Individual counseling, coaching, therapy, and/or mediation experience.
