Job Description:

General Statement of Duties:

Mount Wachusett Community College seeks an educator who believes that engaging and authentic teaching matters more than anything else in the pursuit of student success. This educator designs an innovative classroom culture that embraces diversity and fosters student empowerment. By building positive connections, the faculty member will create a sense of belonging that motivates students and strengthens their desire to learn. The faculty member is also a vital part of the academic community at MWCC, actively working to build academic programs that support student needs and interests and serve and sustain the college community.

The GID faculty member will focus on teaching courses related to web design, interactive media, visual literacy, and digital design. They may also teach other graphic design courses as needed. They should have excellent design skills and experience as well as technical knowledge and experience with computer-based design.

The potential faculty should be committed to using active learning strategies and student engagement. The faculty member will possess excellent communication skills, academic credentials, technological proficiency, and the expertise to provide students in programs across the college with excellent instruction. A background in graphic design, interactive design, and web design is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides classroom instruction in GID;
  • Serves on college committees as elected or appointed;
  • Attends regularly scheduled departmental, divisional, and college meetings; Teaches courses as assigned by the Dean;
  • Participates in academic advisement for approximately 18 students; Maintains office hours;
  • Participates in college service activities (i.e., college committees, meetings, activities, etc.);
  • Maintains disciplinary expertise, and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA, MA, MFA, or Ph.D. degree in Graphic Design or a closely related field;
  • Extensive professional experience in graphic design;
  • Proficient in oral and written communication.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Education methods

Desired Qualifications:

  • Two years of teaching experience at the college level.

Additional Information:

Salary: $52,880.00-$89,901.00

**Actual Salary will be determined in accordance with the classification system of MCCC/MTA commensurate with Education & Experience.
