The Department of Statistics at the University of Akron (https://www.uakron.edu/statistics/) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Instruction (equivalent to Instructor) position starting in August 2025. 

This search seeks to build a cohort of teacher-scholars who will offer a strong contribution to the excellence of UA through teaching, scholarship, service and collaboration. Specifically, as an urban-research university, we are particularly interested in scholars whose work touches on the pressing needs of cities and urban communities. Through our teaching, scholarship, and service, we strive to create an environment where every student at the University feels included and welcomed. The primary duty of this position is to teach 24 credits of a variety of undergraduate statistics courses in an academic year. Some involvement in departmental and/or university service is expected.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must have an M.S. degree or an equivalent in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics or a closely related field from an accredited university. Good oral and written communication skills with demonstrated excellence in potential for teaching with the use of modern pedagogical techniques including online teaching. Evidence of interest in teaching at undergraduate levels.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in successful, efficient teaching at college level. Ph.D. or an equivalent in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics or closely related filed from an accredited university. Experience coordinating multi-section courses. Computer programming skills and statistical computing knowledge for modern-day statistical needs. Ability and interest for teaching one or two graduate level data-science related courses.
