Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Delivers group fitness services to the KSU community using the recommended methods of nationally recognized certifying agencies.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Exhibits expertise in exercise principles, kinesiology, and biomechanics.
2. Instruct participants on proper and safe exercise techniques, including progressions and regressions.
3. Develops and conduct classes focused on strength, cardiovascular fitness, and flexibility.
4. Inspire, lead, and guide participants through effective and enthusiastic workouts.
5. Implements appropriate class layouts based on the format and participants' needs.
6. Demonstrates proficiency in first aid, CPR, AED, and emergency action plans.
7. Advocates for the mission of the Department of Sports and Recreation.
8. Maintains current certifications, including CPR/AED, First Aid, and relevant fitness formats.
9. Teaches a minimum of 3 classes per week, with availability for up to 6 hours weekly.
10. Assist with substituting for dropped classes when possible.
11. Assist with the cleaning and inspection of equipment.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
Other Required Qualifications
Possess and maintain a nationally accredited Group Fitness certification or specialty equivalent.
Possess and maintain current CPR, First Aid, AED certification or ability to attain within 60 days of employment.
Required Experience
Basic Group Fitness Instructor -On-job training or one(1) year of previous training experience.
Advanced Group Fitness Instructor -Over one (1) to two (2) years of previous training experience.
Senior Group Fitness Instructor - Over two (2) years of previous training experience

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Athletics and Fitness Association of America Group Fitness Instructor Certification (AFAA)
American College of Sports Medicine Certified Group Fitness Instructor (ACSM)
American Council on Exercise Group Fitness Instructor Certification (ACE)
American Sports and Fitness Association Group Fitness/Bootcamp Certification (ASFA)
Specialty certifications and licensures are welcome in accordance with the needs of Owl Fit and students at KSU.

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)

Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
