Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a full-time Care Specialist (2 positions available). 

Job Details:

  • Location: F&M Campus - Lancaster, PA
  • Classification: Full-time Exempt
  • Schedule: 40 hours, Monday - Friday. On-Call position.
  • Reports to: Director of Wellness Programs
  • Department: Wellness Programs
  • Approved Salary: $48,000 to $54,000 annually. 

Job Description:

The Care Specialist position is focused on promoting student well-being through outreach, case management, and after-hours crisis response. This role will also assist in managing wellness events, support House Advisors with residential conflicts, and provide drop-in support for students. This position serves at the direction of the Director of Wellness Programs with a goal to foster a campus culture that prioritizes health, well-being, and community support.

Essential Functions:

  • Case Management:
    • Provide case management, crisis intervention, support with basic needs, and on-campus and community referrals for the emotional, academic, financial, and relational issues that impact student success. Maintain a caseload of students of concern and provide regular office hours for drop-in support.
    • Facilitate risk assessment procedures, outreach efforts, conduct intake appointments to assess needs holistically, deliver supportive interventions, and coordinate referrals to appropriate on-campus and community resources. 
    • Provide oversight of records and files pertaining to students of concern and ensure that records and data are maintained in accordance with College policies and federal and state regulations. Document and maintain all information and communications in the case management database (Maxient).
  • Crisis Response:
    • Be available for on-call emergency response and assist with crisis intervention when necessary. Serve as a resource for students during times of personal or academic crisis, collaborating with other campus offices to provide support.
  • Student Leader Support:
    • Support House Advisors with residential conflicts and other concerns as requested. Assist with training of House Advisors, Peer Health Educators, and other student leaders as requested.
  • Provide consultation and deliver training to members of the campus community focused on supporting students in distress, the DipCares referral process, and other critical mental health and wellness topics. 
  • Assist with planning and execution of campus events related to wellness promotion. Maintain DipCares website and social media account. Develop marketing, awareness, and educational campaigns focused on wellness promotion and strengthening resource literacy.
  • Serve on wellness-oriented committees, such as the Mindfulness Committee, and other related working groups as needed. Assist in the training of student leaders as requested and support the implementation of wellness programming during new student orientation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience as a Social Worker or related experience.
  • Prior professional experience with crisis intervention.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive)
  • Evidence of a commitment to community and belonging.
  • This position requires the employee to be on-call, available to respond to urgent issues outside of regular working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The employee may be contacted by phone, email, or messaging services and must be able to respond in a timely manner when in the on-call rotation.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful completion of background checks.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Prior experience in a Higher Education setting.

Additional Information:

Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of reference checks, a criminal background verification, and verification of credentials. The College will coordinate these verifications.
