I. NARRATIVE GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Agriculture Instructor is an 11-month position responsible to the Vice President forAcademic Services for instructional and personnel matters and to fulfill the requirementsoutlined in the Memorandum of Agreement.

II. FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • A. Teach courses as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Services.
  • B. Coordinate agriculture curriculum with the Vice President for Academic Services.
  • C. Revise and update course materials and content to keep all courses current.
  • D. Provide a syllabus for each course taught and turn in two copies of each syllabus to theVice President for Academic Services Office each semester as outlined in theMemorandum of Agreement.
  • E. Develop new courses as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Services.
  • F. Participate in the development and implementation of the institution assessment plan asrequired for North Central Accreditation.
  • G. Serve on college committees as appointed and attend division meetings.
  • H. Advise students according to established procedures.
  • I. Assist in enrollment/pre-enrollment activities as assigned.
  • J. Develop and administer instructional budget maintaining expenditures within budgetparameters.
  • K. Recruits’ quality students for the agriculture program and make personal contact withstudents who inquire about the College in order to meet the recruiting expectations for theprogram.
  • L. Coordinate scholarship paperwork and oversee the completion of financial aidpaperwork, admission criteria for students recruited to the program.
  • M. Assume an active interest in the advising and retention of students recruited to theprogram.
  • N. Serve in an advisory capacity for student agriculture clubs and activities.
  • O. Attend College functions/activities.
  • P. Actively participate in community activities.
  • Q. Attend and participate in commencement exercises in academic regalia.
  • R. Perform other teaching duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Services.
  • S. Perform duties as outlined in the Memorandum of Agreement.
  • T. Meet attendance expectation as required for the position which may include a willingnessto work unusual hours including evenings and weekends as needed.

III. SUPERVISES THE FOLLOWING STAFF

  • Scholarship studentsWork-study students

IV. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • A. Proven teaching ability.
  • B. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • C. An understanding of the mission and role of the comprehensive community college.
  • D. Ability to stimulate motivation, confidence, and enthusiasm in students.
  • E. Ability to manage budget details, scheduling, recruiting, and supervising studentprogress.
  • F. Knowledge of admissions and recruiting activities at the collegiate level.
  • G. Interest in student activities outside the classroom and a willingness to participate in andattend college functions.
  • H. Within six months of the hire date, maintain a physical residence within the CCC servicearea throughout their employment.

V. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • A. A minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably in a community college.
  • B. Experience in the development and implementation of new courses and programs.

VI. REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

  • A Master's Degree in Agriculture or earned a master's degree with 18 graduate hours within thediscipline is required from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by theU.S. Department of Education.
