Job Description Summary:
KU School of Medicine-Wichita is recruiting a psychiatrist to provide inpatient and outpatient clinical care. The Faculty Clinical Track emphasizes professional service in clinical settings.

Job Description:

Required Qualifications:
  • Board eligible or certified in Psychiatry
  • Eligible or licensed to practice medicine in the State of Kansas
  • Current DEA certificate
  • Eligible for hospital privileges at Ascension Via Christi
  • Good standing with the State Board of Healing Arts
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Clinical psychiatric experience in an academic setting
  • Demonstrated abilities in teaching medical students and residents
  • Clinical experience post residency training
Job Duties Outlined:

Teaching & Education 0.08 FTE
  • Supervise, instruct and evaluate psychiatry residents and medical students on assigned educational clinical rotation(s) in accordance with department policies
  • Prepare and present formal lectures for psychiatry residents, psychology trainees, and medical students as required by the department
  • Prepare and update the educational goals and expectations of assigned educational clinical rotation(s)
  • Engage in education committees as assigned
  • Complete GME time studies as required.
Clinical Services 0.90 FTE
  • Supervise, instruct and evaluate psychiatry residents and medical students assigned to the adult inpatient clinical service
  • Participate in weekend call rotation
  • Specialty clinics may be developed with the approval of the Chair
  • Accurate and timely completion of electronic medical record entries for each patient encounter.
  • Actively collaborate in clinical productivity and initiatives designed to meet RVU and financial benchmarks
  • Participate in coverage for other faculty as needed and according to availability
Research & Scholarship 0.02 FTE
  • Department will support the development of a research program in their area(s) of interest, potentially in collaboration with the KUMC-W Center for Clinical Research
  • Research & Scholarship endeavors in support of P&T, with approval from the Chair
