Position Summary:
The Associate Dean of the School of Digital Technologies provides strategic, academic, and operational leadership to support the school's mission and the University's broader goals. The role involves oversight of academic programs in emerging IT fields, faculty development, industry partnerships, research initiatives, and student success strategies. The Associate Dean collaborates with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to foster a cutting-edge learning environment that prepares students for the fast-evolving digital landscape.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist the Dean in executing strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the University's mission and long-term vision for IT education.
- Provide leadership in curriculum innovation, instructional technology integration, and new program development in key IT fields such as AI, cybersecurity, data science, cloud computing, and blockchain.
- Oversee the development, delivery, and evaluation of IT-related academic programs, ensuring relevance, quality, and alignment with industry standards.
- Lead faculty recruitment, mentorship, and professional development, ensuring high teaching and research excellence.
- Manage budgeting, resource allocation, and financial planning for the school, working collaboratively with the Dean.
- Develop and strengthen partnerships with tech industry leaders, startups, government agencies, and international institutions to foster research collaborations, internships, and employment opportunities for students.
- Work closely with employers and industry stakeholders to identify skill gaps and design programs that enhance employability and workforce readiness.
- Provide career development and internship support for students, including guidance, workshops, networking opportunities, and industry engagement.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Admissions teams to promote the school's programs, increase enrollment, and enhance the institution's reputation.
- Ensure compliance with academic accreditation, quality assurance, and regulatory standards.
- Actively participate in university governance, serving on committees, task forces, and advisory boards.
- Lead initiatives to foster applied research, industry-sponsored projects, and technology-driven educational advancements.
- Represent the School of Digital Technologies in academic conferences, professional networks, and industry forums.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Deep understanding of current and emerging IT trends, educational technologies, and academic best practices.
- Proven leadership experience in higher education, particularly in IT or digital technologies.
- Strong ability to mentor faculty and oversee curriculum design, research, and program assessment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience in building partnerships with industry and government.
- Financial management and strategic planning skills relevant to academic institutions.
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and adapt to the Cambodian academic landscape.
Essential Qualifications:
- Doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, AI, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of three to five years of leadership experience in IT-focused higher education, program administration, or research management.
- Experience in curriculum design, faculty mentorship, and academic assessment.
- Strong track record in industry collaboration, grants acquisition, and IT research initiatives.
- Willingness to relocate to Cambodia for a minimum of three years (with the option to extend by mutual agreement).
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with accreditation or equivalent program accreditation processes.
- Strong scholarly publication record in IT-related fields.
- Proven success in securing external research funding and grants.
- Familiarity with U.S. higher education standards and curriculum frameworks.
- Budget management and financial oversight experience in an academic setting.
