Description


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Manages the graduate physician assistant and accelerated post bachelor's nursing student caseloads to determine eligibility for federal financial aid eligibility.
  2. Manages undergraduate student caseload to determine eligibility for institutional, federal, and state financial aid funding.
  3. Manages and processes endowed scholarship funds and works closely with University Advancement staff.
  4. Trains awarding directors on first year, transfer, and current undergraduate students on file review, packaging processes, and federal verification.
  5. Works closely with the Assistant VP of SFS and Bursar in updating Office Policy and Procedure Manuals.
  6. Works closely with the Assistant VP of SFS and Busar during annual audit review process.
  7. Works closely with the Bursar in providing cross training to Student Financial Services team on financial aid, billing, payment plans, medical insurance, and student employment questions on a consistent basis throughout the academic year.
  8. Oversees the counselor of the day schedule to ensure coverage is adequate during peak and non-peak times.
  9. Counsels students and parents in a welcoming environment in answering questions on student billing, student account, financial aid, student loans, payment plans, financing options, and student employment.
  10. Stays up to date on federal and state financial aid policies and procedures by attending webinars and in person trainings through the Federal Department of Education, financial aid associations (MASFAA, EASFAA, and NASFAA), and the Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Aid.
  11. Required to attend occasional evening and weekend events to present financial aid policies and resources to prospective students and families (e.g. Admission Open House, First Year Orientation, Check in Days, etc.).
  12. Serves as a Campus Security Authority for Clery reporting purposes and a Responsible Employee for Title IX reporting purposes.
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
  • Five to seven years related experience required, Colleague experience helpful.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong Excel and Word computer skills required.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail and ability to respond to student and parent questions in a calm and courteous manner.
  • Possess a student-centric mindset
  • Provide excellent customer service to students, families and colleagues as it relates to the Office of Financial Aid and Office of Student Financial Services.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Peak work times are during the months of April, December - January and July-August.



SCOPE:


Interacts on a frequent daily basis with students, parents, and University employees.
