PPL Facility Manager - Neuroscience Institute - Dietrich College

The Neuroscience Institute (NI) was launched to bring together faculty and staff from across the University to conduct multi-disciplinary work to advance the state of brain science.
We are seeking a Facility Manager for the PPL. This position will oversee the day-to-day operations of the animal facility under the direction of the Scientific Director of the PPL. This includes supervising facility staff, managing shared resources, assisting with reporting, and interfacing with other areas/departments.
Core Responsibilities
- Handles day-to-day management of facility operations and animal husbandry including general administration, maintenance of records, ordering and stocking supplies, etc.
- Interface with regulatory groups, maintenance staff, veterinary staff, and others to maintain compliance and smooth operations of the facility
- Daily maintenance of colony; providing food, water and clean bedding
- Providing enhanced enrichment for the colony and otherwise ensuring psychological well-being
- Working with the facility director to ensure proper training, clearances, and facility access for scientific personnel
- Troubleshooting non-routine demands as they arise, including working with the veterinarian and scientific personnel to provide veterinary treatments and care
- Monitoring changes in government and local regulations and adjusting procedures in the facility to keep in accord with them in matters such as caging, experimenter garb and primate living conditions
- Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
- Associates Degree; Bachelor's preferred but not required
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in animal husbandry, laboratory and facility operations. Experience with nonhuman primates strongly preferred.
- Management experience preferred.
- AALAS Certification is strongly preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience in understanding and complying with current research regulations required
- A combination of education and meaningful experience from which knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
