Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a one-year visiting position in the Department of American Studies beginning August 2025. The rank will be Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor, depending on qualifications. Appointment is for nine months (August - May). This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. Applicants should possess or be close to completing a doctorate (or terminal degree) in American Studies (or a closely related discipline). The successful applicant would be expected to teach the introductory course in American Studies and/or courses that contribute to the College's general education program, "Connections." We welcome all applications, particularly from those whose teaching and research areas are in at least one of the following: drugs (culture and/or the law); disasters/pandemics and the environment; and/or animals/animality. We are particularly interested in applicants who can bring a global perspective to their courses. Teaching experience required. Teaching load is 3/3.
