Nestled in the lush Willamette Valley, within an easy drive to the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade Mountains, the University of Oregon is renowned for its research prowess and commitment to teaching. Reporting to the vice president for student life, the associate vice president for experiential learning and engagement (AVP/ELE) is a senior leadership position within the Division of Student Life at the University of Oregon. The AVP/ELE oversees the division's experiential learning and engagement portfolio, which includes the Erb Memorial Union, Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Student Government Engagement & Success, and facilitates activities, experiences, and learning opportunities that focus on students developing and sustaining success within these areas. The AVP/ELE provides campus-wide leadership emphasizing education, programs, and resources that create a vibrant campus culture steeped in the unique traditions and values of the UO and cultivate career readiness competencies, and collaborates closely with academic and co-curricular partners to map learning to these competencies.
The associate vice president for experiential learning and engagement manages and supervises a dynamic professional staff of approximately 100, including three direct reports, and administers an operating budget of $20.7 million.
The salary range for this position is $170,000-$190,000.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements include a master's degree in student affairs, higher education administration, or a related field (doctorate preferred); five years of current and progressively responsible higher education experience in experiential learning, student engagement, or related area in higher education; three years of demonstrated ability in the area of personnel management, including supervision of full-time professional staff, employee development, evaluation, discipline, and motivation; and three years of demonstrated ability in the area of fiscal management, including budget preparation, management, and resource allocation.
