Student Conduct Educator and Care Case Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY
This position will serve as both a Student Conduct Officer for Student Conduct & Academic Integrity cases and as a Care (non-clinical) Case Manager for students with at-risk mental health and social support needs through interventions, referrals, and connections to follow-up services. The caseload percentage between Student Conduct and Care will fluctuate depending on community and office needs throughout the year, as delegated by the Director of Student Conduct and Support.
Successful candidates should be able to advocate for student success, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, manage a diverse caseload, and effectively refer students to appropriate campus and community resources.

Duties and Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES
Care Case Management
- Provide individualized case management and resource referral to appropriate CCD and/or community resources for students struggling with mental health and wellness, relationship conflicts, personality and social adjustment issues, physical health, trauma recovery, and victim advocacy.
- Evaluate the risk of students referred to the Care Team and conduct formal Threat Assessments when necessary.
- Maintain detailed records on assessments and outcomes to track student progress and interventions.
- Update Maxient (database) in a timely manner with outreach methods, case needs, reporter communications, follow-up, etc.
- Communicate with faculty and staff who express Care-related concerns regarding students.
- Serve as a member of and provide support to the CCD Care Team as assigned.
- Maintain awareness of best practices in the development of Behavioral Intervention Teams and university case management programs.
Student Conduct
- Adjudicate Student Conduct & Academic Integrity cases as assigned, including initial review and triage, charging, and scheduling.
- Facilitate holistic conduct meetings and processes that highlight accountability, education, and behavioral change.
- Determine preponderance of evidence, responsibility findings, and assign sanctions as appropriate.
- Assist in the development, update, and maintenance of related systems and procedures.
- Assist students, staff, faculty, and other stakeholders in understanding processes, rights, and responsibilities.
- May serve as Primary Conduct Officer in the absence of the Director of Student Conduct and Support.
Administration and Outreach
- Manage cases in Maxient from case creation through sanction tracking, ensuring that all relevant information is accurately recorded and accessible.
- Collaborate with college offices to provide holistic, wraparound student support.
- Assist in disseminating policy and procedural information to keep the community informed.
- Assist in assessing programs to evaluate their effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide supervision (directly or indirectly) and leadership to office work-study students.
- Serve on various departmental, divisional, college, CCCS system, and tri-institutional committees; participate in professional development opportunities within CCD, as well as professional organizations locally, regionally, and nationally.
Additional Duties
- Engage in special projects, events, or tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Conduct and Support in support of divisional, organizational, or campus needs.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: (Required/Minimum)
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, Human Services, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related area.
Experience: (Required/Minimum)
- Three (3) years of professional experience working in a higher education setting (residence life, case management, Title IX/OCR, or student conduct), or any equivalent combination of experience. This should include two (2) years of professional experience in student conduct in higher education.
- Extensive experience in crisis intervention and management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (Required/Minimum)
- Working knowledge of threat assessment programs and best practices.
- Experience working with campus resources (counseling centers, victim advocacy, academic advising, admissions, registrar's offices, etc.).
- Office organization and administrative skills.
- Demonstrated experience and success working with underrepresented student populations, including students of color, first-generation, and low-income students.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with diverse constituents and provide high-quality support and service to students and all stakeholders.
- Knowledge of first-generation college students and other at-risk populations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, some evenings, and some weekends.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, on campus, off campus, and virtually.
- Understanding of legal issues related to student affairs, including applicable laws and regulations regarding student and employee policies and records (FERPA, Clery Act, Title IX, ongoing legislation, and case law).
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to speak in front of audiences of varying compositions and sizes.
Other Considerations:
The successful candidate will have an educational, rather than punitive, philosophy of student conduct and will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate will also possess the ability to resolve conflict professionally and have the necessary interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty. This position requires excellent judgment, discretion, crisis intervention skills, and the ability to effectively handle confidential information according to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and related laws concerning Human Resources.
