Position Overview
Rider University invites applications for the position of Director of Advancement Services within the Division of University Advancement. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Advancement, this individual will play a key role in enhancing fundraising effectiveness through expert management of the department, which plays a pivotal role in supporting campaigns, development initiatives, and alumni relations activities. The currency and accuracy of system data, reporting, and training of end users are all crucial to ensuring regulatory compliance for the University as a 501c3 organization and the ultimate success of meeting fundraising goals, which are critical to the ongoing operations of the institution. The Director oversees functions including scholarship stewardship, gift processing, donor acknowledgment and tax receipting, financial reporting and reconciliation, and database management.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience in higher education, with demonstrated experience in fund accounting, development applications, or systems oversight in a business or administrative environment.
- Demonstrated relationship effectiveness skills/experience and management skills.
- Demonstrated computer and software skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, database applications, email, and website applications.
- Competence in analyzing data and producing specialized reports.
- Ability to work independently and as a team, to prioritize work efficiently, and to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to the work area in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of applicable tax laws, basic accounting, the fundraising process and the concept of donor relations.
- Ability to carry out multiple activities/projects concurrently.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills. Able to learn quickly and understand system flows, procedures and controls.
- Demonstrated time-management, decision-making and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and a commitment to collaboration.
- Demonstrated independent thinker/starter and ability to motivate others.
- Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.
- Knowledge and familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge and NXT.
