Job Description:

City University of Seattle School of Health and Social Sciences has a commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment to our diverse students, faculty, and staff. Our Marriage and Family Therapy Program is looking for qualified part-time Teaching Faculties to join its distinguished team of faculties and staff. Classes are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

School Description:

City University of Seattle's School of Health and Social Sciences is one of the lead producers of counselors for Washington State. CityU is excited for the addition of this new MFT program to add to the richness of their mental health offerings. Aside from therapy, the School touts highly ranked and in-demand certificates, undergraduate and graduate programs in health and human services, and general studies.

Job Summary:

Part-time Teaching Faculty report to a Program Director and contribute to a quality student experience by modeling excellence and equity in teaching and learning while fostering student development. Additionally, faculty are invited to be involved in other areas of the program, including curriculum development and review, currency and scholarship, and service and outreach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:.

  • Foster a respectful, empowering learning environment that contributes to a positive student experience.
  • Fulfill the instructional responsibilities of planning for course activities, appropriate teaching methods, and assessment of student work.
  • Connect class presentations and activities to course learning objectives as outlined in the course guide.
  • Provide feedback to students in a timely and meaningful manner aimed at fostering continuous growth and development.
  • Encourage student participation in the learning process through a variety of learning techniques and strategies.
  • Be available to students for consultation and clarification regarding course subject matter.
  • Model professional approaches that instill high ethical values and encourage lifelong learning.
  • Evaluate student performance according to established University criteria.
  • Support student learning and engagement. Proactively develop students to become responsible, ethical, self-directed professionals.
  • Engagement in and modeling of scholarship in research, teaching, and learning.
  • Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in mental health practice.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • An earned doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or related fields from a COAMFTE-accredited institution, preferably expertise in Marriage and Family Therapy. A master's degree may be accepted if you have extensive professional/teaching experience in Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • Hold a current professional licensure.
  • AAMFT Approved Supervisor preferred.
  • Clinical experience, preferably with diverse populations (e.g., BBIPOC, gender, SES, neurodiversity, LGBTQ+, veterans, disabilities, refugee/immigrant populations).
  • Proven experience in teaching, preferably in both in-class and online modes of educational delivery.
  • Ability to address academic-related issues and concerns in support of retention and student success.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to relate to and communicate with diverse students, faculty, staff, and external communities.
  • Ability to present a professional image on behalf of the school and City University of Seattle.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and learning management systems in support of quality teaching and learning.
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in both classroom and clinical settings.
