Job Description Summary and Friendly reminders
The Nurse Aide Coordinator and Instructor oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Nurse Aide programs within the Health Occupations Department of the Continuing Education Division. This role ensures all program components comply with state and federal regulations, maintaining accreditation and alignment with North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) standards.
The Coordinator serves as a leader in curriculum development, instructor training, and program evaluation, working collaboratively with clinical agencies, adjunct and full-time instructors, and other college departments. The role also involves providing direct instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical settings, managing testing and credentialing processes for students, and acting as a resource for program staff and students.

Duties
1. Designs, implements, and evaluates Nurse Aide curricula in accordance with state standards and NCBON guidelines.
2. Schedules and organizes Nurse Aide I, II, Refresher, and Medication Aide courses in compliance with NC Community College System and DHHS standards.
3. Updates policies and procedures to reflect regulatory changes and industry trends.
4. Maintains program accreditation and compliance with all relevant state and federal requirements.
5. Provides leadership, supervision, and mentorship to full-time and adjunct instructors within the program.
6. Orients, observes, and evaluates instructors to ensure instructional quality and adherence to curriculum standards.
7. Delivers constructive feedback and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness.
8. Uses effective communication strategies to support collaboration and accountability within the team.
9. Recruits, hires, and trains new instructors to meet program needs.
10. Offers ongoing support and resources for instructors to ensure successful course delivery.
11. Monitors teaching effectiveness and recommend professional development opportunities to maintain instructional quality.
12. Oversees student advising, enrollment, and retention initiatives.
13. Ensures students meet clinical and program requirements, including background checks, immunizations, and competency evaluations.
14. Addresses student concerns and facilitate resolutions to promote success.
15. Ensures instructional materials, supplies, and equipment are available for classroom, lab, and testing purposes.
16. Establishes and maintains partnerships with clinical facilities to support student training.
17. Coordinates clinical site agreements, schedules, and requirements.
18. Serves as a liaison between students, instructors, and clinical partners.
19. Schedules and oversees State Testing for Nurse Aide credentialing in both in-facility and regional testing sites.
20. Provides direct instruction in classroom, lab, and clinical settings as needed.
21. Ensures all instructional hours meet state requirements and accurately reflect student attendance and participation.
22. Attends department and advisory board meetings to stay informed of program developments and contribute to decision-making.
23. Instructs classes, lab and clinical as needed.
24. Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
25. Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.
26. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)
1. Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree;
2. Must have at least one year of full-time or equivalent experience in a supervisory or project management role;
3. Must have a minimum of two years of full-time or equivalent direct patient care as a registered nurse;
4. Must have at least one year of full-time or equivalent experience coordinating instructional or training programs;
5. Must have a minimum of one year of full-time or equivalent experience working in long-term care or an acute care setting;
6. Must have an unrestricted RN license to practice in NC;
7. Must have a CPR Instructor certification for AHA;
8. Must have approval by DHHS as Coordinator for NA programs.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s Degree
2. Experience coordinating training programs at a community college or a work-based training program.
3. Experience using learning management systems and other educational technologies.
4. Experience using a college information database, such as Colleague.
5. Experience teaching adults.
6. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Your total compensation goes beyond this maximum salary. Your A-B Tech benefits represent nearly 30% of your total compensation.
