The Department of Nutrition and Exercise Science is seeking a full-time core faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the Seattle area Bastyr University Kenmore campus, in Kenmore, Washington. Bastyr University nutrition degree programs put emphasis on whole foods and multicultural, political and ecological dimensions of food. The role of core faculty includes didactic teaching and advising of undergraduate and graduate nutrition students. This position also includes a critical administrative role as the director of our ACEND accredited Dietetic Internship (DI) program.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct on topics of whole foods, nutrition, and dietetics in the classroom and lab
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Dietetic Internship program including the development of policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program and to ensure fair, equitable and considerate treatment of prospective and enrolled students in in areas of DI program admission, retention and completion.
  • Student recruitment, advisement, evaluation and counseling
  • Maintenance of the DI program’s student records, including student advising plans, supervised experiential learning hours and verification statements
  • Maintenance of Affiliation Agreements between the program, preceptors and community partners.
  • Maintenance of DI program accreditation including on-going program review to ensure compliance to accreditation standards
  • Budgeting and tracking DI program financial resources
  • Participation on Bastyr committees.

Education:M.S. or Ph.D. in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related food science field and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)

Experience: Minimum of three years teaching at the university level. Minimum of one-year administration experience. Experience with program assessment preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

Demonstrated excellence in inclusive teaching and advising. Excellent organizational and communication skills, writing-speaking-listening. Administrative and student advising experience.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

Working knowledge ofACEND accreditation standards for DI programs. Knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications, nutrient database software, learning management systems (e.g. Canvas), and electronic health records (e.g. Epic).
