Position Summary

The Senior Coordinator for Parent & Family Engagement at the University of Georgia (UGA) works with the Director to engage family members of the university’s student population. This position is responsible for developing and implementing programs and initiatives that foster engagement, communication, and collaboration between UGA and families. This is a full-time, professional position with a focus on building strong, lasting relationships with families while contributing to the university’s mission to support students in achieving their academic and personal goals. The position requires a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of parent and family dynamics, and a passion for enhancing the college experience for both students and their families.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

(40%) Administrative Duties  

  • Triage and serve as a liaison for various university departments, ensuring timely and accurate responses 
  • Manage appropriate records for family engagement, maintaining detailed accounts of interactions, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
  • Maintain resources for campus partners to use with when engaging with families 
  • Regularly update and distribute resources such as guides, FAQ’s and training materials, and collect feedback from campus partners 
  • Participate in division-level and campus-wide committees, meetings, and training relevant to the position as requested by the Director 
  • Understand and communicate University and division policies that support student success and protect student rights to families, as needed 
  • Represent the Parent & Family Engagement Office at various programs where prospective and matriculated student families and supporters are present 

(25%) Event and Program Management 

  • Coordinate, contribute to, and/or collaborate with department planning of virtual and in-person programs involving families
  • Contribute to establishing learning outcomes and key performance indicators for attendees of events hosted by our office 
  • Events include but are not limited to: Family Weekend, Move-In, Orientation, Welcome UGA events, university recruitment events, and our signature webinar series 
  • Gather, analyze, and implement feedback from event/program participants to improve future programs 

(25%) Communications

  • Support communication strategies for families
  • Manage procurement of and workflow of materials from campus partners
  • Edit and publish messages sent through various communication channels (e.g., newsletters, websites, social media, and printed publications)

(10%) Student Staff Supervision

  • Assist in training and supervising student staff and/or other student support (e.g., practicum students, shared graduate assistants, etc.)
  • Actively promote and participate in the development, retention & engagement of each staff member.
  • Think creatively to engage university partners, local businesses, and other community customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution within or adjacent to higher education administration, student affairs, college student personnel, or related field.
  • Direct, professional experience working on initiatives that support the development of college students, events that support a range in audience size (5-1,000+) and specialized populations, and/or engagement opportunities for families of college students.
  • Working knowledge of best practices and trends in parent/family engagement and programming, including familiarity with national organizations such as NASPA, ACPA, NODA, and/or AHEPPP.
  • Experience in professional association involvement; Association can be directly or indirectly career related and does not require membership.
  • Exposure to planning, developing, and implementing strategic goals and program initiatives that require the effective management of resources, budget and financial operations, and collaboration with campus partners.
