Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Associate Program Director (APD) for the Idaho State University PA Program, leading an innovative and dynamic faculty team. The APD assists the Program Director (PD) in recruiting, hiring, and mentoring faculty and staff, as well as monitoring and evaluating the clinical and professional performance of PA students. The APD actively participates in the administrative activities of the Program, which may include the development, coordination, implementation, and administration of the Program as determined by the PD.
Key Responsibilities
Administration: Support the PD in providing leadership within the Department, and administrative assistance in fiscal management, continuous review and analysis, planning, development, and participation in the ARC-PA accreditation process; represent the Program and the PA profession to internal and external entities including health care systems administrators, health workforce experts, fiscal planners and policy makers, especially in eastern Idaho; serve as an expert on PA practice issues and represent PA education and the profession; represent the Department in the absence of the PD as assigned; oversee day-to-day operations of the ISU PA Program at Pocatello, including facilities management and development; ensure that the program is in compliance with ARC-PA Standards and program self-assessment; develop, review, revise, and implement the Department's mission, goals, and competencies; oversee student issues at Pocatello and report to the PD.
Teaching: Teach PA students clinical medicine; participate in the assessment of student academic and clinical performance and assist in facilitating remediation efforts; advise PA students with regard to academic and clinical planning and performance, and direct graduate projects.
Service: Promote leadership and ongoing professional service at the Department, University, local, and national levels within the medical community; engage in community outreach and service learning initiatives; participate in committees, admissions, and program self-assessment, including but not limited to those pertaining to the development, review, and revision of the Program's mission statement, goals, curriculum, and competencies.
Clinical Activity: Assist with clinical site development and recruitment; be a clinically active medical provider participating in clinical practice. Clinical practice release time available.
Scholarship: Engage in ongoing faculty development, research, and scholarly activity, including pursuit of publications, presentations at professional conferences, collaborating on research projects that enhance healthcare education or clinical practice and/or seeking grant opportunities to support program initiatives.

- Terminal degree in a healthcare profession. MPAS, MS, Bachelor's or Certificate if a Physician Assistant (PA)
- Currently licensed or eligible for health care professional licensure in the state of Idaho
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in graduate medical education, leadership or administrative experience
- 5 years or more clinical experience
- 5 years or more teaching, leadership, or administrative experience
- Current board certification in area of medical profession (ie. NCCPA certification if a PA)
- Evidence of strong work ethic, integrity, flexibility, and ability to collaborate with others
- Leadership and/or experience in community and medical-related areas
- Experience completing scholarly activity and/or research
