Job Description:

The Credentials Evaluator has the gratification of working with the Office of the Registrar team responsible for helping students reach their lifelong educational goals. This position provides the opportunity to interact with many departments on a wide range of tasks and projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and process transcripts and other student materials according to university transfer and admission policies. Evaluate student records for diploma and degree eligibility.
  • Receive, evaluate, and determine the acceptability of transfer credits from other institutions and units to be transferred to college records from external examinations and military experience.
  • Review coursework for academic equivalencies using appropriate reference materials per university transfer and admission policy.
  • Process approved course substitutions, waivers, and updated program plans, coordinating with admissions staff as needed.
  • Evaluate student records for diploma eligibility and post-degrees.
  • Learn, interpret, and apply University policies, particularly those pertaining to FERPA, admissions, and student records, in a variety of procedural situations.
  • Serve as a primary reference source to assist students, staff, and faculty with transfer credit evaluation.
  • Perform data entry, word-processing, and filing/record-keeping, as necessary, to maintain complete and accurate student records.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of office work experience, preferably in a college or university.
  • Knowledge of educational coursework is preferred to accurately determine transfer credits and equivalents.
  • Must demonstrate a high level of customer service, attention to detail, and organizational and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to:
    • maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
    • perform job duties with minimal supervision, effectively prioritize work, multi-task, and adjust to changing workloads and deadlines.
    • read and interpret documents such as operating instructions and procedure manuals.
    • write routine reports and correspondence.
    • communicate effectively with diverse student, staff, and faculty populations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office products.
  • Foreign language proficiency is a plus.

  • Work is performed in a typical office setting. The campus is located in downtown Seattle.

Salary:

$22 to $24 per hour DOE
