Program Coordinator, Child Development Center
Job Summary
Responsible for management of the DMACC Child Development Center Laboratory School and ensuring regulatory program standards are met.
Essential Functions
Manage center operations including marketing, recruitment, enrollment, scheduling, budgeting, billing, record-keeping and reporting in accordance with multiple regulatory requirements; oversee facility upkeep, operate in accordance with contracted agreements including CACFP and HHS; establish and maintain program policies, procedures and standards to ensure a quality program, including compliance with licensing, state quality initiatives, and center accreditation requirements.
Supervise child development center staff, work study students, practicum students, volunteers and substitutes. Complete performance evaluations, maintain personnel records in accordance with multiple requirements, manage training and professional development requirements, maintain staff handbook. Provide mentoring and work direction to staff, students and volunteers. Substitute for absent staff as needed.
Provide program leadership, including curriculum development and support, child assessment, family support and services; maintain family handbook. Collaborate with on and off campus entities. Collaborate with the ECE Program to implement current best practices in PBIS, PITC, Project Approach, etc. Participate in college and program events, committees and projects.
Locate, research, and write grants in coordination with the Grants office. Prepare and submit required documents including budget, reports, and data.
Teach assigned courses in accordance with course competencies and syllabi.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related.
Three years of experience working in an early childhood setting as an administrator.
Ability to meet state licensing requirements including: DCI check, Child Abuse Registry check and medical exam.
Ability to complete first aid, mandatory reporting training, universal precautions and other training required by state licensing standards.
Knowledge of state of Iowa licensing requirements, NAEYC accreditation and IQ4K criteria.
Ability to locate, research and write grants including: preparing and submitting required documents such as budgets, reports, and data.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize and manage time and multiple tasks with overlapping deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of current software applications.
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Early Childhood Administration or Leadership or related.
Nine credits in administration, leadership or management or an administrator’s credential.
Experience administering a NAEYC accredited program.
Experience teaching, training or coaching adults.
