University Chaplain
Drury University seeks a dynamic and inclusive spiritual leader to serve as University Chaplain. This full-time position combines pastoral care, teaching, and spiritual leadership in our diverse campus community.
Position Overview: The University Chaplain provides spiritual guidance and support to students of all faiths and backgrounds while teaching two courses per semester in religious studies and ethics as a member of the department of History, Philosophy, and Religion. As an institution affiliated with the Disciples of Christ and United Church of Christ traditions, we value our progressive Christian heritage while embracing interfaith dialogue and spiritual exploration.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide pastoral care, counseling, and spiritual support to students, including international students with a variety of religious beliefs.
- Teach four courses annually in religious studies and ethics
- Lead chapel services and coordinate special religious observances
- Foster an inclusive spiritual environment that welcomes people of all faiths, spiritual practices, and secular worldviews
- Collaborate with student religious organizations
- Serve as a resource for ethical and spiritual discussions across campus
- Participate in university life and student support services
Qualifications:
- Master of Divinity or equivalent terminal degree
- Minimum of 5 years experience in ministry, chaplaincy, or religious leadership; ordination preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to interfaith work and inclusive spiritual care
- Teaching experience at the college level
- Strong counseling and pastoral care skills
