Rhode Island College invites applicants for the position of Assistant Professor, Psychology, Fall 2025. This is a full-time, academic year, 3- year limited position.
The Department of Psychology is an active teaching and scholarly group of 14 faculty members who serve approximately 500 undergraduate majors and 12 graduate students. We offer undergraduate bachelor's degrees in both Psychology (BA) and in Behavioral Health Studies (BS), minors in Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience, and an MA degree in General Psychology with a research focus (with a 5-year BA/MA option). Required qualifications:
- Ability to teach courses in at least one of the following areas: cognitive psychology, human learning, human development (child, and/or aging), human diversity, or behavioral health (clinical or nonclinical focus).
- Knowledge about the needs of diverse student learners
- Ability to conduct research or other scholarly activities
- Ability to supervise graduate and undergraduate research
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
Preferred qualifications:
- Ability to teach a range of foundational undergraduate courses such as introductory psychology, research methods, or statistics courses.
- Ability and commitment to involving students in research and/or scholarship
- Willingness to adopt a leadership role in Department and College
- Bilingual
