GENERAL SUMMARY: The Assistant Director, Programs and Marketing is to support communications efforts and programs that foster a thriving community of students, alumni, and faculty. This is a busy and multifaceted role that requires an enthusiastic self-starter. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to take initiative, manage multiple projects and deadlines, leverage digital marketing tools, track metrics, manage data (e.g. contact lists, etc.), create reports, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive engagement.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Create and manage detailed project plans for programs to ensure on-time, effective, and meaningful experiences for volunteers and attendees.
- Develop, manage, and steward effective third-party vendor relationships that are vital for implementing successful programs.
- Collaborate with marketing and programs team members to uphold the center's visual identity, branding, and messaging.
- Work with peers to ensure consistent messaging about Booth marketing for all partners.
- Manage a variety of data points, including but not limited to program metrics, contact lists, and more.
- Employ design skills and tools such as Canva to create visually appealing marketing materials.
- Manage email calendar. Track send dates, draft copy, design, and deploy 100+ emails per year.
- Coordinate and execute event-related messaging and promotions to create effective marketing engagement that drives event attendance.
- Compile content, create, and distribute monthly newsletter, using Marketo.
- Perform other duties as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
- A bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
- 2+ years’ experience with project coordination and/or project management preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience in communications, writing, and marketing (or similar roles) preferred.
- Experience writing for business and/or nonprofit audiences preferred.
- Experience and understanding of database management, reporting, and basic data analyses preferred.
- Higher education experience preferred.
- Experience in copywriting and editing preferred.
- Experience and working knowledge of a variety of media, including social media, print, and web communications.
- Experience with website management and familiarity with content management systems, alongside marketing tools such as Marketo and Sitecore preferred.
- Ability and willingness to work quickly and juggle multiple detailed tasks/projects simultaneously with the utmost attention to detail and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to travel between Hyde Park and downtown Chicago required.
- Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion.
